🧿 T@he decision to@close Wotton HS was made a long time ago and what everyone saw was what the county does with every decision:
🇨🇳Decision made (internally within #MoCo gov)
🇨🇳Prepare and present public discussion plan with already pressure points to sway public opinion, buy-in
🇨🇳Message has to be "we're doing this for the best interests of the community".- stress this continuously
🇨🇳Hold public forums and allow people to speak to show fake transparency
🇨🇳Have planned talking points for Board of Education Members, including "yes man" Superintendent @ThomasTaylorEdD to justify vote
🇨🇳Don't make it a unanimous vote, have someone vote against it for optics (@JulieYangMoCo) to show the public "there's someone in the board who gets it"
It was very clear that all the board members had already written talking points during the meeting to push back on the parents who showed up to protest.

🔥Olney Townhouse Fire

MCFRS dispatched to 18623 Shadowridge Terrace in Olney. The first unit arrived at 429am with no smoke or fire evident.
Moderate smoke conditions were observed in 18625 Shadowbridge Terrace. A sparkingmall fire in the walls were found in the 1st floor kitchen of 18625 after investigation.
Power was shut off, and the fire was quickly extinguished. There were no reported injuries.

🔥2 Alarm Gaithersburg Townhouse Fire🔥
3rd working fire today in #MoCo
1️⃣615pm
MCFRS was dispatched to 10510 Taverney Drive off of Stewartown Road in Gaithersburg for a townhouse fire. First arriving fire apparatus was Tower 708 from Fire Station 8, reported heavy fire from thequently adding a Rapid Intervention Dispatch. All occupants were outside and accounted for on arrival.
Other units arrival only seconds after.
Battalion Chief 703 from Rockville established Incident Command and requested a Fire Task Force and Second Alarm adding 14 additional fire trucks.
Fire was observed to be rapidly spreading into the 1st floor from the rear deck. There was also very heavy fire inside the basement. Due to basement hoarding conditions and fire beneath the main floor, access to the basement was not possible.
2️⃣624pm
Smoke had started to make its way into the attic of the connecting unit (19512 Taverney). Only a couple minutes later the deck that was on fire became extremely unstable and a hole in the first floor of the fire building creating a safety hazard.
3️⃣648pm
Fire conditions improved, however only 2 minutes later Evacuation Tones sounded and all personnel were ordered to evacuate the building due to a sagging roof and risk of collapse. Operations transitioned to an exterior attack only.
4️⃣730pm
Most of the fire was knocked down, only some small spots of fire remained and residual smoke. This resulted in releasing units on the second alarm and most of the Fire Task Force.
745pm✅
Fire was out. Half of the assigned units were released. Overhaul operations began. MCFRS is still on scene and likely will be for a while.
Notes
The purpose of a RID is to be able to quickly deploy to rescue a downed firefighter.
The Fire Task Force provides additional firefighters, a Canteen (food truck), and an Air Unit (apparatus that can refill SCBA air tanks worn by firefighters.
There were 32 Fire Rescue apparatus' dispatched on this incident.
