Their entry into the war is significant not necessarily because of the scale of damage they can inflict on Israel directly, but because of the broader strategic implications. The klity to disrupt maritime traffic through the Bab al-Mandab Strait, one of the world’s critical shipping chokepoints. While the strait itself carries roughly 8–9 percent of global seaborne trade, the wider Red Sea–Suez corridor accounts for around 10–12 percent of global trade.
