**Apple's Age Checks Under Fire** UK iPhone users will be asked to verify age (13+) to access "certain services" after iOS update. Critics say it's a "chokehold on Britons' freedom to search the internet". #Apple #AgeChecks #OnlineSafety

So @AmazonUK have decided that if your credit card refers to you as Mr, Mrs, Dr, Sr etc. rather than just your name, you cannot be age-verified for buying bladed products (and likely alcohol, tools etc). Seriously, what moron thought this was a good idea? #AgeChecks #Amazon

@TutaPrivacy There was a typo in the post. "Governments should stop plans for mandatory #AgeChecks on online services." I don't get it that those scientists only want to PAUSE it instead of just cancel that bullsh1t which is a data protection nightmare no matter how "safe" ppl think it is

Omg 😱 the fucking labour MPs have given themselves powers to restrict internet access to under 18s. This means without going through house of lords any minister can ban anything they want and force age verification. Labour are no better than China. #LabourParty #AgeChecks

Hundreds of scientists say stop! ✋🚨 Governments should pause plans for mandatory #AgeChecks on online services until serious #privacy and #security concerns are addressed. As countries push to ban children from social media, the risk to everyone’s privacy is growing. 🔐🌍 on #AgeVerification, why scientist say NO & whether your country wants tuta.com/blog/age-verif…cmqy

I'm beginning to understand. During the rollout of #AgeChecks, this' the streaming equivalent. Maybe YouTube will remain as the "free" option, with people driven to paid services by incessant adverts. Long game = "you need a licence to use the internet". x.com/timespolitics/…

@Teeserv2 @_InThisTogether Plus if the sweeping #AgeChecks are all for different ages (let's say 13-16), the shout-downers have justification to say "look, there is no conspiracy?! Some countries are 14, some are 16, so they're not all the same?! Nobody's operating in lockstep?! Get on with your life?!".
