Apple's new #agecheck for iPhone users is one giant load of bullshit. They're now forcing people in the UK (and rolling it out elsewhere) to verify they're over 18 just to access "certain services" or 18+ apps — scanning ID, handing over credit card details, or whatever other invasive nonsense they dream up after the latest iOS update. All in the name of "protecting the children," of course. Here's the reality: if your teenager has an iPhone, you bought it for them. You are the parent. It is your job to know what the hell they're looking at, not Apple's, not the government's, and not some faceless regulator in Westminster or Brussels. Want to lock it down? Install actual parental control software. Set up Screen Time restrictions. Use Family Sharing. Enable content filters. There are already tools for that — powerful ones that let responsible parents do their damn job without turning every adult user's phone into a monitored playground. Instead, we're getting this lazy, one-size-fits-all surveillance theater that treats every iPhone owner like a potential delinquent. It doesn't solve bad parenting; it just adds friction for everyone, collects more data, and pats politicians on the back for "doing something" ! If you can't be bothered to supervise the expensive device you put in your kid's hand, maybe don't buy them one? Or at least stop expecting a trillion-dollar corporation to play substitute parent while the rest of us lose privacy and convenience. Parents, step up. Apple, stop pretending you're the solution when you're just complying with dumb laws! Rant over...
