@The Preventio
@n of Terrorism Act (PTA) has been
#systematically weaponised against Tamils, including in recent years, facilitating widespread arbitrary detention,
#sexualviolence, torture, enforced disappearances, and intimidation, acts that violate fundamental principles of international human rights and humanitarian law. Yet, a certain
#corrupt Tamil political figure, a denialist of the
#TamilGenocide with no formal training or education in international or humanitarian law, has continued to
#exploit the PTA for personal gain. Credible reports indicate that Tamils detained and
#tortured under the PTA were exchanged for personal benefits, including employment and university scholarships for his
#daughter, as well as STF bodyguards and other privileges during the Ranil regime. Alarmingly, even the current government has provided STF protection to individuals who intimidate Tamil communities,
#falsely claim to
#represent them, and threaten Tamils under the PTA for expressing dissent. Furthermore, close relatives of such individuals have been
#implicated in orchestrating the killings of Tamil journalists,
#systematically rewriting Tamil history, and disseminating anti-Tamil
#propaganda in collaboration with military intelligence and affiliated paramilitary groups. These acts constitute not only gross abuse of state power but also the deliberate persecution of the Tamil population, amounting to potential violations of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), customary international law prohibitions against torture, and the Rome Statute’s definitions of crimes against humanity, including persecution, enforced disappearances, sexual and gender-based violence, and extrajudicial killings. @StudentofTE @TamilGuardian @Tamils_Action @senior_tamilan @SLcampaign @vanni8 @RooftopTiger @ImShritharan @ampanai @BBCSiva @JDSLanka @lankafiles @OHCHRAsia @s_sivakajan @Jana_Rajah
