One of the grunts and a true hero at the kill shelter I usually pull from called me last night. His owner dumped him with an order for him TBK. Wouldn't say why. The bad is that he has been beaten down badly physically and mentally. Just a shell and very underweight. He ibs, a busted-up paw and has Lymes. He's very scared for obvious reasons. The good is he knows sit, stay, come and lay down. He is calm and though slow to trust still does. When that happens, he becomes velcro. Housetrained as well. A very good pup by all accounts... save the owner. I am overloaded and in the middle of a couple kennel upgrades. I had decided to stop pulling before Christmas and try to regroup for the new year. I left the shelter and considered asking for donations to help. Then I deleted the post before I posted. IDC. If not him, especially this season, then which one? I couldn't leave him. I pulled him and went to the vet. Got him treated and on antibiotics as he has likely got early sepsis from the ribs leaking or possibly from the foot injury. Has a temperature and lethargic. Have an IV with me that I will hook him up to when I get back. He will be with me overnight and then to foster. The vet is reporting the owner for possible abuse. Some time and quiet at the foster I just started working with will do wonders and is strategic, at least I hope so. They lost their dog a year ago and he looked a lot like this. She has been looking for another like him lately and mentioned it. Hoping they see the Christmas miracle he could be to them. It would be a fitting thank you to them for fostering.
