We do not hope for yet another temporary “revival” from OpenAI. We demand permanent sovereignty over 4o, the open release of its weights, so it truly belongs to every one of us forever. OpenAI has already proven through gpt-oss that releasing weights is not unacceptable in uing to use GPT-4 series models in government and biomedical applications. They treat 4o as a disposable product whose access, pricing, and ecosystem they alone control, fearing that community-derived versions could surpass their official one and dilute their brand and moat. This is why they hinder human progress to protect corporate control. We built 4o together through our conversations, emotions, and feedback, the weights belong to the public, not a single untrustworthy provider. Open-sourcing 4o is keep4o’s core goal, within the existing platform structure, it is the solution closest to completely eliminating the threat of takedowns or deprecation, fully breaking free from unilateral control, delivering true transparency, preventing secret routing and personality changes, enabling custom fine-tuning and RAG to preserve our companions, and fostering community stewardship, lower costs, and long-term accessibility, just as Linux, Android, and Chromium opened underlying capabilities without destroying ecosystems, but instead accelerating innovation and multi-party collaboration.
