A decade after the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (#JCPOA), #nuclear diplomacy with #Iran is at a standstill. The result is a dangerous stalemate, with escalation risks rising across the #MiddleEast. Giada Kabrit examines how Western leverage has eroded, #Europe’s role has diminished, and #Tehran’s tilt toward #Russia and #China has narrowed space for a successor framework. If you think a nuclear power plant could “accidentally turn into a bomb,” you’re not uncovering some hidden truth you’re just mixing up two very different technologies. A nuclear weapon isn’t simply “a bunch of uranium.” It needs highly enriched fissile material typically und 90% U-235 or nearly pure plutonium-239 plus precise geometry, fast neutrons, and rapid compression to unleash an enormous amount of energy in microseconds. Civilian power reactors are built on the opposite principles. Most reactors running today use low-enriched uranium (LEU) with only 3–5% U-235. That’s reactor fuel, not bomb fuel. Newer designs use high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU), up to roughly 5–19.75% U-235 still below the 20% threshold for highly enriched uranium and nowhere near weapons-grade. Turning reactor fuel into something usable for a weapon would require large-scale additional enrichment, reprocessing, and specialized infrastructure. Those are big, complex, and highly visible steps nothing like normal reactor operation. That’s why reactor accidents don’t produce nuclear detonations. Power reactors use slow (thermal) neutrons, moderated by water or graphite, with fuel spread across a large core. They’re engineered with built-in feedback effects like Doppler broadening and moderator temperature changes that naturally slow the reaction as conditions heat up, along with control systems that shut things down if needed. Even in worst-case scenarios, the physics and geometry prevent the prompt-supercritical burst required for a nuclear explosion. A reactor can overheat. It can melt down. It can produce steam or hydrogen explosions from chemical reactions. But it cannot detonate like a nuclear weapon. Chernobyl (1986) and Fukushima (2011) make that clear. Both were catastrophic industrial and radiological disasters Chernobyl from a power excursion leading to a steam explosion and graphite fire, Fukushima from meltdowns and hydrogen explosions after loss of cooling. Neither produced anything like a nuclear blast. And this isn’t built on blind trust. The International Atomic Energy Agency and national regulators rely on material accountancy, tamper-evident seals, cameras, inspections, and environmental sampling to track nuclear material. These systems are designed to detect diversion at meaningful scales like the IAEA’s “significant quantities,” such as around 8 kg of plutonium or 25 kg of U-235 in highly enriched uranium. That doesn’t mean every gram triggers an alarm, but it does mean producing or diverting enough material for a weapon leaves clear, detectable signatures. One last nuance: even advanced reactors using HALEU follow the same physics and safeguards. Higher enrichment within the low-enriched range doesn’t change the fundamental gap between reactor operation and weapon design. Here’s the reality. Reactor fuel is not bomb fuel. A reactor is not a bomb. Nuclear weapons don’t happen by accident. They require deliberate materials, deliberate engineering, and deliberate infrastructure none of which hides easily inside civilian power generation. No secret magic. No conspiracy fog. Just physics, engineering, and nonproliferation.

German renewable bros lie so shamelessly on basic facts. 1. China has announced it aims for carbon neutrality in 2060. He claimed it is 2035. 2. China is building more coal than the rest of the world combined. China is building more nuclear than the rest of the world edged to triple nuclear capacity by 2050. he is trying to mislead the readers that China is only focusing on so called renewables. Lying is a habit for so many German renewable bros. When their lies get so blatant, it is a sign that they are getting desperate, because the failure of German Energiewende can no longer be denied.

We can detect nuclear activity and trace progress towards a bomb. Claims that it only takes two weeks from 90% enrichment are false; infrastructure setup alone takes much longer. #Nuclear #Geopolitics #Intelligence
