#UrgentDebate_HRC_IRAN_China_Cuba The Jammu and Kashmir Council for Human Rights (JKCHR), together with its associate NGOs and civil society partners, #joins in the request submitted by the Islamic Republic of #Iran, the People’s Republic of #China, and the Republic of #Cuba, urging the President of the Human Rights Council to convene an #urgent debate during the ongoing #61st session. The requested debate concerns the “Protection of Children and Educational Institutions in International Armed Conflicts,” with specific reference to the aerial attack on Shajareh Tayyebeh #Girls School in Minab, Iran, as a grave breach of international law and international human rights. JKCHR mourns the victims and unequivocally condemns the attack on the Minab school, which reportedly claimed the lives of 168 children between the ages of 7 and 12. An attack on a functioning educational institution is not only a violation against civilians but a profound affront to humanity itself—an act #rarely witnessed in its severity. The deliberate targeting of children can never be justified and does not confer strength or legitimacy upon any nation. JKCHR respectfully supports the call made by the Islamic Republic of Iran, the People’s Republic of China, and the Republic of Cuba, and joins in urging H.E. Mr. Sidharto Reza Suryodipuro, President of the Human Rights Council, to convene an urgent debate on the protection of children and educational institutions in situations of international armed conflict. #Let us not be at war with our children! @UN_HRC @IraninIslamabad @UN_Iran @UNinChina @CubaONUGinebra
