stop relying on #hermes agent native memory system. My hit rate for memory went from 20% to 100%. If you want a real autonomous partner you have to build the systems that help it remember. I thought I was set because the agent saves every single message in a database. I er every project and every decision I ever made. I was wrong. I would ask about a specific task from three days ago and the agent would just give me a blank stare or some generic hallucination. It was frustrating because I knew the data was there. So I did some research to see what is actually happening under the hood. The reality is that hermes agent uses something called fts5. It is basically a very fast text search like when you use ctrl f in a browser. It is not a real brain. If I do not use the exact word that is in the database it will find nothing. It does not understand context or synonyms. If I say car but the log says vehicle it is blind. It is just a dumb search engine trying to look through a mountain of data and usually it picks the wrong pieces. Thats why we built my own solution. The daily log tool. It is a second layer of memory that built with my agent. Before I close a session the agent creates a highly structured summary of everything we did. It is like a save game for my agents brain. We even built a dashboard for it where I can see and edit everything. Now I do not have to hope that the agent finds a needle in a haystack. I just point it to the daily logs. Do not just trust the default settings.
