#Nowplaying #DonaldByrd Quintet – Parisian Thoroughfare (1958). It’s a smoky slice of #hardbop charm. Byrd’s trumpet is bright & unhurried, gliding over crisp quintet interplay. The cover’s diner‑table nonchalance matches the music’s cool confidence. #Jazz #nowspinning

#Nowplaying #CurtisFuller – Two Bones (1958). Blue Note magic from a trombone titan. Fuller & Slide Hampton trade lines with effortless swing, lifted by Sonny Clark’s crisp touch & a rhythm section that glides. Warm, soulful #hardbop that feels both relaxed & razor‑sharp. #Jazz #nowspinning

#Nowplaying #ArtTaylor – A.T.’s Delight (1960). A drummer’s statement album: sharp, swinging & full of personality. Taylor drives the band with crisp precision while leaving space for bold horn lines & rich grooves. A #hardbop gem that proves the leader’s chair suits him perfectl#jazz #nowspinning

@JazzMemes One of my great regrets is not seeing Art Blakey play. In the early 80s I bought a copy of "The Big Beat" on the street in the East Village. It was pretty beat up. I cleaned it the best I could and it played fine. Blue Note records are made to last. #BlueNote #Jazz #HardBop

Taylor’s Tenors (1959) is hard bop at its finest—Art Taylor leads a fiery session with Charlie Rouse & Frank Foster trading tenor blows. Monk’s “Rhythm-A-Ning” and “Straight No Chaser” anchor the set, while Walter Davis Jr. keeps it cool on piano. Pure jazz muscle. #HardBop #jazz #vinylcommunity#ArtTaylor
