#BobbyDigital Dixon is a true icon in Jamaican 🇯🇲 music. Yet still many don't realize how much he contributed to ROOTS RGGAE
- Mixed so many of those Jammy's classic hits before starting his own label in 1989
- Crucial figure in the making of Shabba Ranks into a superstar
DEM BOW that helped create REGGAETON
- As Owner of HEATWAVE Sound system he never lost that enthusiasm a selector has and it showed in his productions
After producing some of the biggest hardcore Dancehall anthems of the late 80s and early 90's ...
Bobby went on to produce classic albums that made ROOTS REGGAE come back to the forefront in the post digital era
Starting with the brilliant IT'S GROWING by the late Garnet Silk, Bobby went on to produce three of the greatest reggae album of the last 30 years when he added BLACK WOMAN & CHILD and THE REAL TING by Sizzla to his catalog
By 1995 Bobby had fully shift to producing only one drop reggae - releasing the HEATHEN RIDDIM with the likes Shabba, Ninjaman,
1997 he introduced us to @morganheritage with their PROTECT US JAH only a month or 2 after releasing the great Sizzla album.
Among one of Bobby's biggest contributions, however, is one that is among the least mentioned in my opinion ..
It was in late 1998 when we found out Bobby had decided to ditch the digital drum machines when he used the FIREHOUSE CREW and some additional musicians to produce the second Heritage album DON'T HAFFI DREAD and a new version of Garnet's works with live backing called GIVE I STRENGTH
RIP King . Thank you for the timeless music
LONG LIVE BOBBY DIGITAL
Salute @digitalbrecords
