We take rest in cycles, and AI doesn't @harari_yuval #SundayBreak Yuval Noah Harari often stresses the profound differences between human societies and the technologies we create. One of his key themes involves the way AI could reshape labor, economics, and even our worth. If an entity—an algorithm, a machine learning model—never requires rest, it can theoretically handle tasks at a scale and pace unimaginable for humans. This might lead to economic shifts where certain human jobs and roles become obsolete, as well as social and ethical questions about what humans should do when machines handle much of the "productive" activity. Moreover, Harari has commented that if AI can outpace human decision-making, data analysis, and adaptation—partly due to its non-stop functioning—this could deeply influence political power and societal structures. The question becomes: what does it mean for human civilizations, predicated on cyclical rhythms of work, rest, harvest, and play, to increasingly rely on entities that exist outside these cycles?
