As Per VP, After the success of Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal, director Desingh Periyasamy announced a big-budget historical film with #SilambarasanTR in the lead. Initially, the film was to be produced by Raj Kamal Films International, with a budget of around ₹150 crore. However, the company later withdrew, feeling the budget was not viable. The project was then moved to AGS Entertainment, where the budget was reduced to ₹120 crore. But since this compromised the director’s vision, the film did not proceed there either. Later, there was an opportunity for Lyca Productions to take over the project. However, due to financial constraints, that too did not materialize. #STR51 – It was #Simbu sir who initially asked if there was any role for #Santhanam in the film. I didn’t give him a promise at first, as Santhanam sir is now a hero, and we should only cast him if we can use him properly not just for claps and whistles. I told him I would write first. Later, the duo got committed to #RamkumarBalakrishnan’s film. Around 20–25 days ago, while writing the screenplay and dialogues, I cracked the character. It is an important role the film’s 2nd hero appearing in a blasting, entertaining, humorous role while also driving the story in many scenes. It will be similar to Dragon and Kutty Dragon. After I shared this, #SilambarasanTR immediately called Santhanam and explained the character. I recently met Santhanam at a wedding and assured him that, he is playing a hero, his character here will not be just comic relief. It will be a special, entertaining, humorous role that drives the story. He said he would work with #Simbu anytime, and that it’s even more special since it’s my film. He also mentioned that his children are big fans of Dragon, and he is excited to collaborate. We are planning to begin the 1st shooting schedule in May and complete the film by October.
