Fun fact: Sean Price was Memphis Bleek’s cousin. Sean P and Jay-Z didn’t have a personal relationship, but they did have mutual respect for each other as fellow Brooklyn emcees. They showed each other love on multiple occasions, including when Jay was selected as the first ted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, he paid his respects by shouting out all of the emcees who inspired him along the way. Sean P was one of them. And when Sean P passed away in 2015, his family started a crowdfunding to help pay for his funeral services. Jay reached out to DJ Premier to connect with his family and made an “incredible donation.” Jay has never publicly spoken on this. But Sean P’s widow and his business partner, Dru Ha spoke on it in a couple interviews. Rest in peace, P!
