According to students, the incident occurred when a student named Afaan sought permission to leave the classroom to meet his mentor. The professor reportedly asked him to wait until the break. When the student returned to his seat, Dr. Deshpande allegedly used abusive language, repeatedly calling him a “terrorist.”
Afaan claimed that the professor used the word “terrorist” at least 13 times, further linking him to global conflicts by saying, “The
#Iran war is happening because of people like you, and Trump will come and take you.”
The incident sparked outrage among students and political groups. Lakshya Raj,

Facing backlash, the
#PESUniversity management issued an order suspending Dr. Deshpande with immediate effect, pending a formal inquiry into the matter.
