These are 5he kind of reports that have resulted in insurance companies being held in disrepute. Seriously, @UHC, not providing pain meds after major surgery is malpractice. Why stronger #InsuranceOversight is needed, at minimum.

Hey @UHC. Completed a hysterectomy yesterday afternoon, discharged her home in the evening (saving @UHC and everyone some money). Discharge medications included 12 Vicodin. (retail cost $30). Vicodin DENIED pending prior authorization. Patient in pain all night. Way to go.

This was my experience years ago when I suffered with migraines. My insurance company was ok with me having 3 day episodes where I couldn’t work & was in serious pain over providing medication that was recognized as effective treatment. Much better #InsuranceOversight is needed.
