Crackdowns on the Ahmadi community across districts of Punjab on Eid (March 21), has prompted a statement from the community leaders who say that state actions are contradicting official commitments to curb extremism, especially with local administrations enabling discrimination against a peaceful community. "These measures not only intimidate citizens and restrict their rights but also damage Pakistan’s international human rights standing," said the statement.
The Ahmadiyya Community has urged the government to protect religious freedom, enforce the Supreme Court’s 2022 ruling, hold responsible officials accountable, align policies with constitutional and international obligations, and implement safeguards to prevent such violations in the future.
