Airbus successfully trialed a unique, first-of-its-kind forest firefighting system, linking aircraft, helicopters, drones, and ground personnel for highly accurate water drops and significantly faster fire extinguishment. The trial used two drones and a light aircraft to capture fire images. AI-driven data processing merged these with satellite and other data (terrain, wind, personnel location) to create a comprehensive tactical view. This view provided flight paths and precision water drop points to a helicopter, equipped with a precision drop assistance system, and an ATR72 simulating a water bomber. This initial trial is a major milestone toward a full forest fire combat ecosystem.
