The road to Net Zero has to work in the real world.
Over the past year, we’ve gathered evidence directly from operators across the industry through our payload loss survey, alongside wider Net Zero engagement.
Today, we’ve published our Payload Loss Survey Report.
It l issue:
Current regulations mean electric HGVs often carry less than their diesel equivalents.
That means more journeys, more vehicles, and more cost.
In a low-margin industry, that simply isn’t sustainable.
This isn’t about resistance to change.
It’s about making change viable.
Our earlier Future of Fleets work showed the scale of the challenge. This report takes the next step - providing evidence and practical solutions.
We’re calling for:
•Updated weight limits
•Adjusted axle regulations
•A joint industry–government approach
Because if we get this right, we unlock real progress.
If we don’t, we risk slowing the transition we all want to see.
