Study by researchers in China notes risk of accidental lab infections in BSL-2+ labs, the type historically used in that country for work with SARS-like coronaviruses. “The accidental spread of bioaerosols is one of the main causes of [lab infections]”… Study notes risks of o biosafety cabinets. “The exposure risk for personnel positioned near the exhaust is significantly higher.” In some cases “with infection probabilities reaching up to 19.9 %, even when protective devices were considered.”

I doubt that 1 Johnqpublic knows the difference between #BSL2 and #BSL4 2 that the #WIV lab from which #COVID19 was released, was BSL2 3 the difference between "an accident" and "criminal negligence" 4 that the latter occurred here *in the design of the #experiment* 🧵

@itscanadamax The WIV NBL-Campus BSL-4 facility was designed by the French. The WIV Wuchang-Campus BSL-2 facility--which is where SARS-CoV-2 was constructed--was not designed by the French.

Donem tots els beneficis del dubte. Però aquest laboratori és una cort de porcs, impròpia d'un centre de recerca. Ni #BSL2 ni #BSL1, està molt lluny del q és la bona pràctica microbiològica, #GMT en anglès. I és el laboratori de #Wuhan, no el seu #BSL4, però la música no sona bé.

Biosafety precautions--or, rather, complete absence of biosafety precautions--in lab used by Shi Zhengli and Peter Daszak for research on novel SARS coronaviruses at Wuhan Institute for Virology. Chaos and coffee mugs. It is no wonder that COVID started in their lab.
