Spaceflight may temporarily accelerate aging signals, but the body’s ability to reverse them shows how dynamic our biology really is. #longevity #aging #longevityscience onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ac…
Astronauts as a Human Aging Model: Epigenetic Age Responses to Space Exposure

This longitudinal analysis of Axiom-2 astronauts reveals that spaceflight induces a rapid andsignificant epigenetic age acceleration that is largely reversible upon return to Earth. These findings...

Space exposes the body to conditions humans rarely experience: • Microgravity • Increased UV exposure • Cosmic radiation The epigenetic system appears to rapidly adapt to this stress and recalibrate once back on Earth. #longevity #agelessrx #aging

The answer was surprising: both. While in space, astronauts’ biological age accelerated by ~2 years. But within one week of returning to Earth, their epigenetic age returned to baseline. In other words, the aging effect was rapid and reversible. #longevityscience #aging
