@When well-known and widely accepted #biological #hypotheses are challenged by new findings, it is always of great interest. The authors E. P. Snelling et al. (2026) conclude that the maximal #size of #insects is not limited, as previously assumed, by oxygen diffusion in relation to the size of the tracheoles. Because according to their studies, "relative space occupied by tracheoles in the flight muscle of insects increases by only 1.8-fold over a 10,000-fold body mass range."
