@fandompulse Star Trek Enterprise was a failure because of the Xindi arc that mirrored the "war on terror" plain and simple. Aliens attacked FLORIDA and so Cowboy Trek went after them. It was too obvious and not abstract enough.
That's a little exaggerated. Phlox is still good, and some of the Xindi were fascinating as well, but mostly the story is tightly focused on Archer, T'Pol, and Trip.
@fandompulse I didn't mind it. It was cool to see an "early days of Star trek" type thing. I didn't mind the Xindi story arch. It was nice to have a season that wasn't a stand alone episode each time. But I can understand the criticism.
@realJacobAirey@fandompulse The separate universe Xindi story of season 3, the time cop story of season 1 and 2 destroyed it. Time travel stories CAN be good, but only in isolation as it feels like a cheat to the greater series narritive. Big reset stories feel like you wasted the audience's investment.
@fandompulse Season 4 was awesome except the first two episodes. It actually felt like a prequel and the backstory to estsblished lore. Season 3 and the Xindi storyline were good from an independent universe perspective, but it was counter to everything already established.
@fandompulse 2/2
And in season 3 they could have taken out the Xindi, and they could have had the Earth-Romulan war, which would have led to the creation of the Federation
@fandompulse i think it was a great show...up until the xindi arc. up until then it was a good star trek prequel, a good look at pre-federation earth. but after that, they went too hard on the multi-episode-arc stuff, which is something that star trek has never been strong on.
@IO19568941 I just love the way they told The Xindi story in season 3.
Every episode had its own story but was still connected to the overall plot of the season.
And every episode was a hit, and did I mention all the cool ship battles 👍
@SirBylHolte Xindi over stayed its welcome, but a must to course correct a show that was recycling unused Voyager and DS9 scripts to further pad the paychecks of Rick Berman and Brannon Braga. It becomes the best Trek show since the original with season 4. Those 4 episode stories are great!
@MALGIS31@JeffGreason@fandompulse It's been so long since I've watched ENT that I don't recall individual episode names. I liked the Andorian/Vulcan war arc. For me, that was peak ENT. I found the Xindi arc slow and overly "fluffed up" for time.
Different strokes. You're not wrong, you're just different than me.
@Marc_Topaz@JeffGreason@fandompulse I thought the Xindi arc really received the show. Lots of good episodes and concepts there.
But we can agree that THESE ARE THE VOYAGES was crap.
I’ve always considered TERRA PRIME the series finale.
@fandompulse Enterprise was abruptly cancelled just after it had become interesting. I enjoyed the Xindi arc and concept of Reptilian, Aquatics, Avian, and Hominid. Terra Prime was fantastic. Denobulans were a great species and Billingsley defined them (and his lovely wife). Andorians too!
@MALGIS31@JeffGreason@fandompulse We have different perspectives on it. You're not going to convince me, and I'm not going to convince you. What bugs me and what bugs you are going to be different.
Again, I LIKED Enterprise, with the exception of the Xindi arc and the finale. It was a good show.
@Marc_Topaz@JeffGreason@fandompulse There was never a need to bring it up. Then there are production reasons. That doesn’t discount it happening, however.
The Roman War was relevant to an episode. The Xindi was wasn’t. Not mentioning is not forgetting. Lots of real life major events fail to get mentioned, too.
