🚨 Most people have no idea there are multiple openings in the Great Sphinx.
The back, the rump and even the head have shafts, fissures, and sealed passages that have been documented for centuries.
🔹A major fissure cut through its waist
🔹A drilled hole on the back, 27 fee head, roughly 6 feet deep
🔹At least two more shafts along its flanks
🔹A rump passage near the tail, descending further
The hole in the head could have anchored a crown, a headdress, or something we haven't considered.
The fissure on the back could be natural erosion or deliberate carving.
Perring's Hole was drilled by Howard Vyse in 1837, searching for chambers.
Baraize sealed several of these openings in 1926 with cement, iron bars, and trap doors. Some are still visible today.
But there is a long history of reported chambers inside and beneath the Sphinx. In 1565, a traveller reported a priest entering through the head and speaking from within, as if the Sphinx itself was talking.
Hawass and Lehner rediscovered access tunnels to large passages directly beneath the body, with evidence of earlier ancient excavation. Ground penetrating radar has flagged multiple subsurface anomalies that remain unexplored.
Everyone is rightfully excited about the possibility of a second Sphinx. But let's not forget the original still holds secrets we've barely scratched the surface of.
Sealed openings. Unexplored voids. Trap doors leading to the unknown.
What's inside the Sphinx that we still haven't been shown?
