So bullying and shithousery in football is now racism? Wow… make it make sense.
Is this rule only for Argentina or every country gets the same energy? Because last I checked, mind games, aggression, and rough play have always been part of football. We’ve normalized it for years. But suddenly, it’s racism?
Let’s be honest, there’s a line. If a player is verbally abused with racist language, that’s unacceptable. No debate. But if it’s physical pressure, banter, or players getting in your head, that’s football. That’s competition.
Now a young player gets rattled because opponents are getting under his skin, and the whole narrative jumps straight to “Argentina is racist again”? Why must everything be dragged back to history like that’s the only lens we can use?
Every country has a past they’re not proud of. Imagine calling Ghanaians “stupid” today because of colonization, how does that even make sense? So why do we keep doing the same thing to others?
And please, don’t twist it into “you’re defending this because of Lionel Messi.” Miss me with that.
We all watched the kind of treatment Messi got from Pepe and Sergio Ramos, elite-level shithousery. Did he cry racism? No. He dealt with it, because that’s football at the highest level.
Now it feels like some players know exactly what to react, show emotion, and the media will run with a racism headline instantly.
At some point, we have to separate actual racism from football intensity. If everything becomes racism, then nothing is taken seriously anymore.
Football is a tough sport. Not everything is a social justice headline.
