PTIC-KL AND ACCCIM EXPLORE ASEAN BUSINESS COLLABORATION UNDER PHILIPPINE CHAIRSHIP
KUALA LUMPUR - Commercial Counsellor Ms. Norjamin G. Delos Reyes of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Kuala Lumpur (PTIC-KL), an attached agency of the Philippine Embassy and the investment promotion office under the Department of Trade and Industry, held a courtesy meeting on 18 March 2026 with the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), headed by Secretary General Dato’ Jeffery Tan, to present the Philippines’ priorities for its 2026 ASEAN Chairship and to engage the Malaysian private sector in regional economic initiatives.
PTIC-KL representatives, Commercial Counsellor Norjamin Delos Reyes and Ms. Olivia Su, Trade and Investment Specialist, were received by ACCCIM leadership, including Secretary General Dato’ Jeffery Tan; Deputy Secretary General Mr. Boo Chin Liong; Ms. Zen Tan Chen Chen and Mr. Choong Jee Von, Members of the International Trade and Expo (ITE) Committee; and Ms. Chung Yee Nee, Senior Operations Manager.
During the meeting, the Commercial Counsellor Delos Reyes provided an overview of the Philippines’ trade and investment priorities, highlighting opportunities in sectors such as semiconductors and electronics, agribusiness, manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, and services. She also outlined selected initiatives and business-related activities in connection with the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairship, aimed at encouraging greater private sector participation in regional economic platforms.
In turn, ACCCIM Secretary General Dato’ Jeffery Tan shared perspectives from the Malaysian business community, including its experience in regional engagements and its ongoing efforts to facilitate business linkages within ASEAN. The organization also conveyed its interest in continuing dialogue with partners in the Philippines on areas of mutual interest.
The meeting underscored the value of continued dialogue between PTIC-KL and ACCCIM, with both sides expressing openness to explore practical avenues for cooperation, including information exchange, participation in relevant business events, and potential business matching initiatives involving stakeholders from the Philippines and Malaysia.
PTIC-KL expressed appreciation for ACCCIM’s engagement, while ACCCIM welcomed continued coordination on areas of mutual interest. Both sides noted the importance of ongoing private sector engagement in supporting ASEAN’s economic development and regional connectivity. END
