🚨 Young mixed relay team stuns seniors, breaks national record and enters World Relays qualification quota! India’s 4x100m Mixed Relay Team B, featuring Lalu Bhoi, Unnathi Bolanda, Jayaram and Harita Bhadra, stunned the senior team by breaking the national record with a brilliant 42.30s. They outperformed the senior lineup of Gurindervir Singh, Sudeshna, Tamilarasu and Tamanna in a sensational race. Both teams Timings have now entered the top 24 under the World Relays 2026 qualification quota, with Team B ranked 19th. What makes it even more remarkable is that this team had never run together before. They were formed just a day prior and practised together for the first time before delivering this performance. #IndianAthletics #Athletics @afiindia

🚨 A very sad day for India’s men’s 4x100m relay team at the Open Relays! The team, which was expected to push for World Relays qualification, was disqualified due to a takeover violation. During the race, third-leg runner Manikanta suffered a hamstring issue, leading to a failed baton exchange with fourth-leg runner Animesh Kujur. The disqualification was under T.R. 24.7 (World Athletics Technical Rules – Relays), which governs baton exchange/takeover violations. The team was unaware of the disqualification and was warming up for the final when the decision came through. 📌 As per multiple sources, Maldives lodged a protest, though an official present indicated that the jury had already reviewed the footage and was set to make a decision even before the protest. India was ranked 25th (38.75s) in the World Relays standings and needed 38.73s or faster to break into the top 24 — a mark that was well within reach. 💔 A heartbreaking end to what could have been a qualification push. #IndianAthletics #Athletics @afiindia

🚨 Clarification on Tejaswin Shankar’s decathlon national record performance Two of Tejaswin Shankar’s performances — the 100m (+4.7 m/s) and 110m hurdles (+2.5 m/s) — were wind-aided. As per the World Athletics wind modification system, approximately 30 points are deducted due to excessive wind assistance. This brings his adjusted total to around 7917 points. Both performances will not count as personal bests, although the points are still considered (with adjustment). ⚠️ Note: This is a rough calculation, and there is no official confirmation yet on whether this mark will be ratified as a national record by the federation. We will try to get official confirmation from AFI on this. #Athletics #IndianAthletics @afiindia
