Every workplace has its pros and cons. At my workplace, there’s quite a strong culture of favoritism among employees. That said, the new management is actually pretty good when it comes to salaries, they’ve never been late paying us, and they offer double pay and reasonable OT rates. It’s much better compared to the old management, which might have had some issues with handling money.
But in my department, things aren’t great. There’s a lot of bias in how people are treated. I’ve seen staff with lots of problems and warning letters still being kept and even defended by supervisors when they mess up. Meanwhile, hardworking employees with clean records get targeted, especially if they speak up about those problematic staff.
There’s also favoritism based on looks, especially among female staff. One female employee got promoted really fast even though she doesn’t even know how to use Microsoft Word or Excel properly, me and others have had to fix her mistakes many times. Meanwhile, a colleague of mine who’s really good at her job had to wait five years to get promoted.
I’m still staying here mainly because the management is good, even though my department isn’t great.
