But as much as we've tried to insulate ourselves from the actual cost of healthcare, and instead feel a lower "effective" cost, the more that effective cost seems to become, no? Other nations have chosen a different route. They've kept costs lower by restricting demand through tighter rationing. Some people think that's a better tradeoff, but I'm not one of them. I don't think either our model or theirs is very desirable.
