“He turned his back on Black folks. I would always joke to Bob, ‘When you get older, you are going to be racist just like your daddy.’ And he would say, ‘No I’m not, that’s never gonna happen!'” My latest for @ESPN's @andscape on when Kid Rock was "Black." andscape.com/features/kid-r…
When Kid Rock was 'Black' - Andscape

Kid Rock got his start in hip-hop, with the help of Detroit rap legends. Now, he's unrecognizable to some of the people he came up with.

@murphdogg29 @espn @andscape Good write 👍🏾 Makes you wonder if he's been cosplaying, possibly to get back in his father's good graces before he died and then rolling his shtick onto MAGAs payrolls.

@murphdogg29 @Bobby has a rap@album@! Grits Sa@ndwiches for Breakfast is the debut studio album by Kid Rock, released on November 27, 1990. In contrast to his later rock and country-fusion style, this early work is a straightforward hip hop album. Genre: Old-school hip hop, heavily influenced by the Beastie Boys, LL Ccord Label: Released by Jive Records when Kid Rock was 17 years old. Production: The album featured production by D-Nice, Too $hort, and Mike E. Clark. Controversy: The lead single, "Yo-Da-Lin in the Valley," caused a major controversy when a college radio station was fined $23,700 by the FCC for playing its explicit lyrics. Here's the YouTube link to the album. music.youtube.com/playlist?list=…
