The divide Chollet is describing isn't about intelligence — it's about attention.
Who controls where their focus goes vs. who lets the feed decide.
AGI amplifies whatever habit you already have. If you're passive now, you'll be passively much less relevant.
A lot of folks talk about "escaping the permanent underclass". If AGI pans out, the future class divide won't be based on wealth, but on cognitive agency. There will be a "focus class" (those who control their attention and actually do things) and a "slop class" (those whose reward loops are fully RL-managed by AI)

no one has a clue when we'll "have AGI." it may never happen. IC and HVM are on the other hand real, on the horizon, and probably the long-term future of computation. please never stop building and always keep an edge.
