@The law aims to tie citizenship to real connections rather than unlimited generational transmission. It hits hard the historic Italian diaspora in Argentina, Brazil, US, etc., but does not strip existing citizens. If your family line stops at a grandparent born in Italy, you may still qualify. Otherwise, it's much harder now.Sources: Italian Official Gazette + Constitutional Court statement. Clarification on Italian citizenship by descent 🇮🇹 Recent changes to Italy’s law (Law 74/2025, upheld by the Constitutional Court in March 2026) have restricted jure sanguinis for people born abroad. Key points: ➡️If you already have Italian citizenship or filed a complete application by March 27, 2025 → you keep it. No retroactive loss. ➡️For new applications: citizenship by descent is now limited. Generally requires a parent or grandparent born in Italy (with specific conditions on exclusive Italian citizenship at the time). ➡️This effectively ends automatic recognition for distant descendants (great-grandchildren and beyond) without a more recent "genuine link" to Italy.

@cornu__copia @bronzeagemantis This just shows Indians are better workers. To get Italian to do the same they need to be kicked off of the generous welfare so that they can know the value of hard work. Like they say “hard times produce good men” and and soft times produce soft men
