Before discussing the March 20 interministerial briefing on recent events in #WestAsia, I would like to clarify that oil marketing companies (OMCs) in India, such as #IOCL, #BPCL, and #HPCL, have the power to raise oil prices in response to market conditions. However, the CMDs rectors) of all companies report directly to the ministry, which is led by the minister of petroleum & natural gas. Therefore, I believe the oil minister and secretary have always had access to all information prior to and following decisions made by oil marketing firms. Despite my lack of math skills, I am well-versed in political math, so the March 20 decision was straightforward: the Narendra Modi government and its ministers cannot avoid taking responsibility while claiming that it is their oil marketing firms, not the Narendra Modi government, who control petrol and diesel prices. Therefore, I believe oil marketing corporations would have contacted the oil minister before making decisions ("The situation still remains concerning/हालात अभी भी चिंताजपक बने हुए," remarked the joint secretary (marketing & oil refinery) in all news appearances.) On March 20, oil marketing companies boosted prices. Premium 95-octane petrol prices rose by Rs 2 per litre, while industrial diesel prices rose by roughly Rs 22 per litre. Let's get right to the point: during a live press conference at the National Media Centre in New Delhi on the interministerial briefing on recent developments in West Asia, once again the officers of the government of India failed to provide information regarding 22 Indian-flagged vessels that are still in the western #PersianGulf region. When a journalist asks an officer a question during the press conference, one of the #officers responds, "I have no information right now, but I will share with you when I have."I would like to conclude by stating that some of the ministers and officers in the Narendra Modi government may be hurt by my remarks.
