#Iran has urged Donald #Trump to change his "maximum pressure" policy. Mohammad #Javad #Zarif, Vice President for Strategic Affairs, called on Trump to reassess his approach, criticizing its ineffectiveness. This comes after the U.S. accused Iran of plotting to assassinate Trump, s "totally unfounded" by #Tehran. Diplomatic ties between the two countries have been severed since 1979. Trump’s withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal led Iran to enrich uranium to 60%. Zarif attributed this escalation to the maximum pressure policy. Trump had also recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital and ordered the killing of Qasem #Soleimani. Iran hopes for a policy shift in Trump’s new term.
