Kit Wilson has addressed his plans for WWE WrestleMania 42, revealing he has his eyes on a certain championship.
Wilson will compete in a celebrity match on the March 27 SmackDown episode, facing off against music artist Jelly Roll.
Speaking with noted that, after he has dealt with Jelly Roll, he’s looking to target US Champion Carmelo Hayes.
When asked about his plans ahead of WrestleMania 42, Wilson said:
“Kit Wilson has never been hotter, he’s never been higher, he’s never been bigger than right now. This is the road to WrestleMania.
“I guess that’s why I’ve got such a problem with Jelly (Roll), because you’re trying to interrupt my journey. Carmelo Hayes is the current United States Champion on my SmackDown brand, and that’s something I’ve got my eyes on.
“That’s something I’m looking forward to, you will see Kit Wilson win that championship. If I finish off with Jelly (on SmackDown), if I end that story, if I close that chapter, I can look onto these bigger things. WrestleMania is that big thing.”
Friday’s match will mark Jelly Roll’s first singles encounter in a WWE ring, following his debut in tag-team action at SummerSlam 2025.
With many predicting that Jelly Roll will score his first WWE victory on SmackDown, the musician could further derail Kit Wilson’s championship plans.
With Carmelo Hayes defending his US Title in eight televised open challenges on SmackDown, we could still see Wilson – or anyone else – standing across the ring from Hayes at a moment’s notice.
