#WWE #WWENXT #TonyDAngelo WWE NXT star Tony D’Angelo has opened up about the several months he spent away from the company until his recent return. D’Angelo was absent from NXT July 2025 to January 2026, with not much said about the reason for his disappearance. While there were ster call-up, D’Angelo ended up returning to NXT with a rebooted more goal-oriented character stripped of the ‘Don of NXT’ persona that he’d portrayed since 2021. In an interview with No-Contest Wrestling, D’Angelo has now addressed his time away and the reasons for it, saying: “No injury. It was just a bit of a reset. I will say I did have a couple of personal things that came up unexpectedly. But honestly, things happen the way they’re supposed to. “So it was good, I got a reset, I kinda got a different perspective on life and work. In that time my wife got pregnant. “So it just… you get in this bubble and you’re just so, ‘Lift, work, eat, film,’ you’re just doing that for so long, you kinda forget why you got into this, or there’s life outside of this. “So sometimes you need a little reset, and I’m pretty thankful that I got that opportunity, and now I am what you see on TV. “I have a whole new perspective and outlook on what I need to do to achieve my goals and take care of my family.” Is Tony D’Angelo’s WWE NXT Character Change Good? As noted, Tony D’Angelo returned to NXT earlier this year without his over-the-top ‘Don of NXT’ character, playing the role of a more serious, quiet and aggressive ‘hunter’ in the sense of hunting down his goals. At first, there were question marks over this play, especially because D’Angelo went so long without explaining what had happened and why he’d changed. However, when he had his first promo since returning and was able to explain himself, it recreated the connection with the fans that he’d built up over the past four years, and he is not out of plance in the NXT Championship picture.
